- Sulfur Content: Varies widely (from ultra-low in some distillates to over 3.5% in high-sulfur HFO), strictly regulated in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) for environmental compliance.
- Heating Value: Possess a high calorific value, making them efficient sources of heat and power.
