Marine Engine Oil
Marine Engine Oil (System Oil, Trunk Piston Oil)
High-performance marine engine oils developed for both two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines. They offer superior wear protection, high thermal stability, and detergency, ensuring reliable operation under heavy load conditions. Ideal for ships, tugboats, and offshore vessels.
Types: (H4)
- By base stock
- Mineral-based: A traditional, cost-effective option derived from crude oil
- Synthetic: Offers superior performance, especially in extreme temperatures, and lasts longer.
- By engine type:
- Trunk Piston Engine Oil (TPEO): Used in medium-speed engines that run on distillate fuels
- Cylinder Oil: Designed for slow-speed, two-stroke engines that use heavy fuel oil (HFO).
- Two-stroke and four-stroke oils: Specific formulations for different engine cycles, which must be matched to the engine's requirements.
Key Features: (H4)
- High additive content: Marine oils contain a higher percentage of additives (20–35%) compared to automotive oils (10–20%) to combat the harsh marine environment.
- Moisture and corrosion protection: Additives are specifically designed to protect against corrosion from saltwater and moisture caused by condensation from cool water.
- Oxidation resistance: Built-in anti-oxidants help extend engine life.
- Shear and wear protection: They have a strong film strength to protect parts during constant, high-load shearing forces.
- High viscosity index: Ensures the oil maintains its performance across a wide range of temperatures.
- Penetrating properties: The oil is designed to flow and protect all engine components, even in hard-to-reach areas.
